Ouro Preto - UFOP
Study or complete an internship abroad in Ouro Preto!
The city name Ouro Preto means “black gold” – its connection to mining is therefore obvious. The Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP) offers many degree programs that are also available at Clausthal University of Technology. Here is your chance to collect credit points as an exchange student at UFOP and enrich your studies!
Although most courses are offered in Portuguese, the university's efforts to offer English-based classes are remarkable. In addition, the university has numerous academic internships available in its institutes for exchange students. These internships can also often be carried out in English.
Find out more about the many opportunities at UFOP in the linked documents in the right-hand column.
Your next steps
Have you already taken part in the IZC’s TUC Go Out! info session? Participation is required, as you will receive basic information and valuable planning advice on studying abroad.
After your participation in the TUC Go Out! info session, you have the opportunity to discuss your individual questions and plan your next steps in a one-to-one meeting. To study or intern at UFOP, please contact Mr. Heidemann.
In order to be able to go to UFOP for one or two semesters abroad, a two-stage application process is required. In the first step, you must be nominated by the IZC. In the second step, you must apply directly to the partner university. Therefore, please note the following deadlines for an application for a nomination by the IZC which are based on the UFOP deadlines:
If you would like to go to UFOP in the first semester from March to July, submit your application documents for a nomination to Mr. Heidemann at the latest by October 31st of the respective previous year. The IZC will nominate you to our partner university. Once you have been nominated by the IZC, you must then submit your application directly to UFOP by November 30th.
If you would like to study at UFOP in the second semester from September to February (undergraduate level) or August to December (graduate level), please submit your application documents for nomination to Markus Heidemann by April 30th at the latest. The IZC will nominate you to our partner university. Once you have been nominated by the IZC, you must then submit your application directly to UFOP by May 30th.
You might be eligible for PROMOS funding from the German Academic Exchange Service. You can find out more here.
