GEZ Registration

Starting from January 2013 broadcasting fees (formerly, the GEZ fees) apply to all citizens.

Persons who will remain in Germany longer than 3 months and own a radio and/or a television or a web-enabled PC must register these devices, and pay the AZDBS (ARD ZDF Deutschlandradio toll collecting agency) for public radio and television programs. According to the new financial plan of public broadcasting, one simple rule applies:

• One fee is to be paid per apartment – it does not matter how many people live in the apartment and which or how many broadcasting devices you own
• The new fee covers all devices – there is no longer a difference in fees between radio, television and computer.
